Awesome...also surreal and laff-out-loud. Too many great snarks to quote.

There should be a coda in every story about the council: This is what you dummies get when pols win with 25-percent of an algorithm vote...just as Julia Meier and Candace Avalos and a couple other ideologues designed it without anyone really noticing.

And--just like Cato with "Carthago delenda est," every column should end, "Give the mayor a freakin' veto."

Max, I don't know how you watched 11+ hours of that shitshow but thank you for the detailed analysis. I hope you have a comprehensive self-care program.

But Wilson's still going to have all the bums off the streets by 12/31/25, right?

You have to be fair……. Fy budget for mayor is effective 7/1/ 25 through 6/30/26. The city is operating under previous year budget the day he took office. 12/31/25 is not correct.

Then you had best inform the Mayor and The Oregonian:

"Portland mayor stands by improbable pledge to end unsheltered homelessness this year" Jun. 08, 2025 By Lillian Mongeau Hughes and Shane Dixon Kavanaugh

"Throughout his first five months as Portland mayor, Keith Wilson has taken nearly every opportunity to tout his plan to end unsheltered homelessness by Dec. 1 [2025] and insist that his ambitious goal to have a shelter bed available for every person on the street who wants one is eminently achievable.

He doubled down on that message Friday in an interview with The Oregonian/OregonLive.

“No change in plans,” he said. “We’re on target. I’m optimistic.”

Thank you for showing me this article. I understand how you came to this conclusion better. I should of been a better steward of civil discourse by asking more questions. Your response helped me to look something in a very different light. I really appreciate this. I am always open to others thoughts on situations.

My employer is in the news quite a bit. Our divisions are funded by fiscal year budgets. I made an assumption the mayor’s platform to end homelessness in one year was his idea. I expected to be funded when he created his first budget. You helped me look further into this item. In the city of portland press release, i spotted this item:

https://www.portland.gov/mayor/keith-wilson/news/2025/1/27/mayor-wilson-presents-blueprint-end-unsheltered-homelessness

Wilson’s plan builds on the Homeless Response Action Plan, a joint intiative by city of portland and multco county to reset the community’s response to homelessness. He reiterated many of the goals of that plan, which require funding from a wide range of agencies

Within the homeless response action plan, the community sheltering strategy states the end goal is December 31,2025. This is the date you spoke in your comment. The article you quoted, “ He doubled down …… No change in plans,” he said. “We’re on target. I’m optimistic.”

In 2024, the old form of government came super close to pulling out of this agreement. Boy, it was fun to watch city council and multco go back and forth on this item last year. Then Keith Wilson asked the city to drop it.

I kind of wonder from time to time why old portland money is not very outspoken about the conditions in this city. I am thinking this may not be necessary. They have their quiet ways of going about things. These are just my intuits. Media and Pols like to present information that does not help the public come to well informed conclusions. I see it all the time when the Oregonian talks about my employer.

Although green’s rant on being compared to a republican was awesome( 10:12) on 6/11/25. We know his kryptonite now. It interupts his rational super powers. Never mind, he and DJT are both pols who have degrees in economics.

Let’ s hope enough taxpayers get mad and vote in the next city council race. 2024 turnout for city council was terrible.
