Portland Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) main character Olivia Katbi is stepping into the limelight again.

We can have fully funded childcare and quality K-12 education. We can have safe streets, free transit, public utilities, good jobs, and social housing. We can support new parents. We can radically transform society to serve the many, not the few. But we have a fight ahead of us
DSA now has members in city council and the state legislature who can fight for a Family Agenda. We can find ways to use the revenue streams we already have, and to raise new revenue. We won’t accept more austerity. I want to raise my daughter in a city where kids can thrive
As Trump and Musk raid and dismantle critical services at the federal level, state and local govt must step up to take care of its people. And the left can’t just be AGAINST Trump - we have to articulate what we’re fighting FOR. Portland DSA will be fighting for families
Fighting for families also means fighting to keep families together - no deportations. Fighting to protect LGBTQ youth. Fighting to stop the billions of our tax dollars that fund the massacre of babies and families in Palestine.

Katbi’s inspiration in this plan, Zohran Mamdani, is the DSA candidate for Mayor of New York City. He’s an antisemitic Communist crackpot backed by other antisemitic Communist crackpots, hence Olivia’s adoration.
His platform:
Freeze the rent.
Fast, fare free buses.
No cost childcare.
City-owned grocery stores.
Housing by and for New York.
$30/hour by 2030.
Baby baskets for New York’s newborns.
If you watched my appearance on NW Fresh, you’ll recognize many these platform points. Piles of awesome free stuff plus higher wages and publicly owned everything. Tons of support for families and no money for Israel’s baby grinders and trained packs of rape dogs! We can protect those infants and give you free stuff. The billionaires will pay for it!
Who are the people still falling for this? This is like expecting DOGE to actually fix government overspending. Are they also going to give me a team of fairies to do my laundry? Can I get some magic beans? Where are the adults?

Democratic Socialists are so nice. They care about your family and constantly need to point out that if we weren’t giving so much money to Jews Zionists Israelis maybe you’d have health care and free broadband. Aren’t your kids more important than genocide? You know, the one Biden was helping cover up? That’s why they told you not to vote for him. Now all they do is complain about Trump and fascism. So, the Democratic Party went too “centrist” in their obsession with “bipartisanship” and if only we had leaned into the Squad even harder we might have won. Except the DSA and the rest of Portland’s “Left” told us not to vote Democrat the entire time.
They told us this in 2021 when they helped smash the local Democratic Party headquarters. That was way before the cries of “genocide” got trendy.
The DSA told us again during the 2024 campaign season, when they held a “Presidential Debate Bingo” at the Double Mountain Taproom.
You can see Councilor Tiffany Koyama Lane at the event with the DSA banner on the wall. It was a partisan political party event promoted like a community night of fun by Double Mountain.
“Two old guys agreeing on lots” is an interesting way to describe Joe Biden and Donald Trump. I wonder who funds these kids…
I reached out to Double Mountain to ask why they promoted the event without the DSA branding, when it was clearly a DSA event.
Double Mountain’s reply was:
The plan was to air the presidential debates in the private dining room for just the group's guests. However, interest in watching the event seemed to include others not in that group, so the screen was moved into the bar area. Our social media team was asked to post about the airing since it was moving to the bar area, but not really as a hosted/sponsored event. The group's presence wasn't viewed as so divisive like you do. Political and other types of groups occasionally reserve the private dining area. While not charged a fee for the room, we don't host them. Airing the Presidential debate seemed to be a fun, community activity that could include anyone from many perspectives.
I'm sorry that we've disappointed you and certainly respect your decision not to come back.
The DSA hung signs up all over town telling us not to vote Democrat, and if you must, at least vote for the fake ones who are actually DSA members.
But maybe Angelita Morillo and Olivia Katbi are right. It was probably just us shit-libs not going hard enough for campus takeovers and window smashing. My gross “centrist” friends and neighbors who cried into their OPB tote bags on election night could have hated the United States more and maybe that might have moved the needle. Fuck em. They get what they deserve, right?
The DSA claims to believe this might be the end of our democracy and this is how they act? That’s like pouring sugar in your gas tank and getting mad the car is breaking down.
It’s almost like they don’t believe any of it. It’s almost like they are a gross, deeply unserious group who have the political acumen of college freshmen. Four of them are sitting on our city council, they have a member plus a handful of allies on the Oregon Legislature, and they practically run The Portland Association of Teachers (PAT).
Olivia Katbi’s move back into leadership is one of the many plans the Portland DSA is cooking up for us this year. Alongside PAT, they’ll also be promoting candidates for Portland Public School Board - including our friend, 18 year old Jorge Bautista. Poor kid can’t catch a break. He just wants to save the environment and get involved in local politics. Be careful who you make friends with is the lesson here.
If You CAIR…
Speaking of bad friends, back to Olivia Katbi. She’s run the DSA before and she likely will again, but she also has a history with CAIR - The Council for American Islamic Relations. They are fighting with Elon Musk and with a name like that, they sound like a nice group…
Reader, it’s so bad. They’re blacklisted as a terrorist organization in the United Arab Emirates. They’ve been investigated by the FBI under every US President since their founding in 1994. They have financial ties to terrorist groups - something former members have been criminally convicted for.
It’s cartoonishly awful.

To give them credit, CAIR has openly condemned terror attacks within the United States. But abroad, especially against Israel, Israelis, or Jews? They’re pretty comfortable justifying them. So is Olivia Katbi, as I have covered many times.
Oh, they also pal around with fascists. Not just fascists of color like the Houthis, but real-life Western Chauvinists and White Supremacists like Jake Shields and Dan Bilzerian.
Is it cartoonish enough for you yet? Do they need the mustaches? CAIR has many interesting connections in Portland, including the former Police Accountability Commission I mentioned last time, but that’s a story for another day. I cannot imagine a worse representation for American Muslims than CAIR. Luckily there are other options.
Olivia Katbi served as a CAIR Oregon board member, among her many other titles. She hates Israel, anything connected to Israel, and anything she imagines is connected to Israel. And that’s usually the problem, right? It never seems to stop at Israel, the nation (ארץ ישראל). These things find a way to creep inexorably toward… us (עם ישראל).
So Katbi:
Is a self-identified Communist.
Openly praises terrorism/terrorists.
Has worked for/with terror linked groups.
Was directly involved (leadership capacity) in the 100 Days of Protests.
Is a public school educator and has powerful connections in local teachers’ unions.
Is friends with some of our City Councilors (can you be friends with your boss?):

Katbi has been plugged into this network of money and propaganda for a decade. She was screaming about “genocide” in 2018 and earlier. The slogans you’ve been hearing? The posters I’ve been ripping down? Like an antisemitic hipster, Katbi was saying them first.
But hey, it’s not like Katbi and the DSA’s involvement in our local schools and unions is going to have noticeable impact, such as emboldening Portland antisemites…

Loved Teacher Tiffany in a baby pink mask (sexist/genderist/transphobic, probably), along with the bad girls who now find themselves holding the deciding votes on our radical city council. Portland deserves 'em. The mopes who can't take their snouts out of their sour beer and THC gummies and latest ethnic canapes are in for a civics lesson. Sometimes the psychopaths actually get power--Germany 1933, anyone?

Oh, those rich developers - there they go again! To hear the left speak, you would think they'd have spent all their money keeping Ted Wheeler in power and in their pockets. They must live a different Portland than the rest of us. In our reality, rich developers who want to stay rich are avoiding Portland because of its high commercial vacancy rate, plummeting commercial real estate values and the occasional foreclosure of a high-rise tower.
