Loved Teacher Tiffany in a baby pink mask (sexist/genderist/transphobic, probably), along with the bad girls who now find themselves holding the deciding votes on our radical city council. Portland deserves 'em. The mopes who can't take their snouts out of their sour beer and THC gummies and latest ethnic canapes are in for a civics lesson. Sometimes the psychopaths actually get power--Germany 1933, anyone?
"Once again, we find ourselves pitting critical programs against each other and fighting for scraps while rich developers continue to line their pockets. It doesn’t have to be this way. Tax the rich, fund families!"
Oh, those rich developers - there they go again! To hear the left speak, you would think they'd have spent all their money keeping Ted Wheeler in power and in their pockets. They must live a different Portland than the rest of us. In our reality, rich developers who want to stay rich are avoiding Portland because of its high commercial vacancy rate, plummeting commercial real estate values and the occasional foreclosure of a high-rise tower.
In other news, I ripped down a pro-Palestinian poster on NE Broadway recently . . .
I've only lived in Portland for a few years, and it seems like it's gone downhill and isn't getting better. I suppose if the nice people that Max describes in this article ever get full control of the city and county governments, which is entirely possible, it will really go to hell.
Chief Bob Day as Police Chief is a good sign. 2 of my 3 City Councilors are solid. Half the council is decent.
This year we're going to back good candidates for School Board. We're getting neighbors to apply for board positions and to lobby their reps. We've got proposed legislation just like "the other side" does. I know people are who building a viable alternative to "Portland for All."
We've got financing lined up. In 2026 we're going to run sane alternatives to JVP @ County, try for a full sweep of District 3's City Councilors, and oust Mitch Green in my District.
Portland is on the edge, but we don't have to fail. We just can't let these people peddle their snake oil. It's going to take a handful of weirdos like me yelling, and a lot of normal decent people listening *just enough* to know that, come time to vote, they can't just crack open their ballots and choose whoever the Teacher's Union tells them to anymore.
These weirdos took a decade to capture the city, and they're barely holding on. It won't take much to force things back into a better equilibrium. The average Portlander doesn't like this stuff, they just don't know enough to know most of it is happening.
That's a failure of the media, but then again there's no money in covering it. I rake in about $500/year with this obsessive hobby of mine.
Good piece...know your enemies!

Au contraire!

This is the first good news I've heard since January 20 of this year. Thank you!
Gotta give the birdbrained JVP the heave-ho!
